About Us
Tim Nevill - Behind the Business
I am a 40-year-old experienced blacksmith, I have trained with Martin Lewis (IrONY) who is the last line of Lewis blacksmiths in the Rushall area since the "1700's". I trained for 4 years and have traded for 5 years under the name of Metal Dreams Blacksmith. I am always looking for ways to improve my skills and have attended courses learning the art of damascus and fire-welding.
I can make practically anything using any metal from small ornaments to large gates using traditional and modern techniques. Some of the projects I have worked on are rose arches, fire pits, stair handrails and garden benches to name a few.
Prior to blacksmithing, I left school at 16 to study vehicle mechanics and engineering at college for 3 years. In 2003 I joined the army reserves which included a Christmas tour of duty in Iraq in 2004-2005.
Since then, I have worked at Wilts and Dorset, as a bus mechanic, coach fabricator and MOT inspector. I went on to work at Halfords Autocentre, as a mechanic and MOT tester and then on to The Motor Garage, doing the same. It was at that time in my life when I experienced mental health issues and I wanted to pursue a career in which I had a real interest so blacksmithing was the way forward.
In between working at the garages, I have done general building work, gardening, and groundwork. I have two beautiful daughters, 2 bonus daughters and a partner who works behind the scenes keeping me in check. I enjoy fishing, outdoor activities and walking across Salisbury Plain.
Some of My Early Work
My skills and knowledge have certainly improved from when I first started out.
